Babysitter Rate Calculator
How we calculate rates
Our calculator uses a multi-factor model built on aggregated data from five major babysitter rate surveys. Each state starts with a base rate that reflects local cost of living and market conditions.
From there, we apply adjustments for the number of children (typically +$2 to $5 per additional child), sitter experience (from teen sitters to CPR-certified professionals), time of day (evening, weekend, and holiday premiums), and any additional duties like driving, meal prep, or homework help.
The recommended rate represents the midpoint of what families in your area are paying for a similar arrangement. The fair range (plus or minus 15%) accounts for natural variation in local markets.
DCFSA savings estimates assume a 30% combined federal and state tax rate applied to eligible childcare expenses up to the annual contribution limit. Your actual savings depend on your specific tax situation.
