PayMyBabysitter is a free resource that helps parents figure out a fair rate for their babysitter. We aggregate data from multiple national surveys and publish easy-to-use tools so you can make informed decisions about childcare pay.

Built by Drew Chambers, Co-founder of SitterSync

Drew Chambers is the Co-founder of SitterSync. He has a background in private equity and energy transactions, and holds an MBA from Darden.

When Drew moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, he had a list of local babysitters from a community organization — but no way to manage bookings, payments, or track expenses. He also discovered that most families around him overlooked babysitting as a primary care option, and nearly all of them didn't realize they could use their Dependent Care FSA or the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit to make those sitters tax-free.

SitterSync was built to solve both problems: make it easy to manage and pay babysitters, and make those payments tax-advantaged through DCFSA and the care credit. PayMyBabysitter.com is a free resource from SitterSync to help families understand what fair pay looks like in their area.

Data methodology

Our rate data is aggregated from UrbanSitter, Care.com, Sittercity, PayScale, and Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data for childcare workers. We cross-reference multiple sources and apply cost-of-living adjustments to produce state and city-level estimates.

Rates are updated periodically and reflect averages, not guarantees. Actual rates in your area may vary based on supply and demand, your sitter's qualifications, and the specific duties involved.
